Artisan Quality from fiber to fabric to finish

Our hands touch every item that you see on these pages. We source the yarn, fabric and all other materials, cut out the individual pattern pieces by hand and make our bags here in Colorado.

Our Designs

We allow the materials and our creative process to inform the crafting of each individual item. This is why, in addition to our standard designs, we make many one-of-a-kind pieces where the materials, colors, and the silhouette of the final piece follow a unique path.

Our Materials / Our Process

We source our luxuriously soft, fine merino wool yarn from the renowned Italian mill Zegna Baruffa Lane Borgosesia. The yarn is loosely knitted into shapes using our Dubied manual knitting machine. Edges are hand-crocheted to produce a seamless body when felted. Felting creates a stable, soft and thick fabric. Our Italian merino wool felt is very soft and durable and more forgiving than leather. Wool resists wear, repels moisture, is naturally flame-retardant and can easily be brushed clean.

Other fabrics used in our products are carefully sourced from Two Sisters Ecotextiles, makers of exceptionally beautiful, earth-friendly fabrics using GOTS-certified, organic fibers.

Leather straps and trim are made from vegetable-tanned, English bridle leather from Wickett and Craig of America, one of the few remaining U.S. tanneries still working exclusively with this non-toxic method using only American hides. In 2015 they received the Tannery of the Year award and were featured in an article from World Leather, August/September 2015 detailing their operation and business.

Our hardware is designed by us and custom made for us. The addition of a matte lacquer finish adds beauty and durability to each piece.

Social Consciousness

We work with local craftspeople so almost every aspect of what we sell is local to our production in Colorado and the United States.

We care deeply about where our wool comes from. Wool industry animal care issues are in the forefront of our awareness. Putting the practice of mulesing into the public's awareness is part of our mission. As a small textile manufacturer our vote has little weight on its own to make the changes we all wish for.

We believe that our participation in the industry will give us more leverage as we continue to grow and educate. Let's change the industry for the better together.

Are you a conscious consumer, supporting sustainably sourced products to benefit yourself and the planet?

From fiber to fabric to finish, each step is executed with the highest quality sustainable practices. We do this in order to cultivate the unique process that benefits both the consumer and the planet.
